The Redhaven pad is designed to sit directly against the skin. Part the fur at the target area (hip, shoulder, back), place the pad against the skin, and secure the Velcro strap. No shaving required.

Sessions run for 10, 20, 30, or 45 minutes — selectable via the timer button. Most owners use the 20 or 30 minute setting for daily maintenance. The pad automatically shuts off when the session ends, so you don't need to watch the clock. Most owners use it once daily — typically in the morning while their dog is still relaxed, or in the evening while they're winding down.

Consistent daily use is where owners most commonly report meaningful changes. Occasional use is less likely to produce the same results.

For most dogs, start with P3 — red + near-infrared combined. This delivers both 660nm and 850nm wavelengths simultaneously and is the recommended setting for joint support, arthritis, hip dysplasia, and general mobility.

The other modes: P1 (red only) for surface-level support; P2 (near-infrared only) for deeper tissue; P4 (red + NIR pulsed at 10Hz) for variety. When in doubt, P3 is the right starting point for almost all dogs.

Place the pad directly over the area of concern — typically the hip joints, lower back, shoulders, or knees. Consult your vet if you're unsure which joints are most affected.

The pad should sit flat against the skin with no air gap. Part the fur, position the pad, and secure gently with the Velcro strap. It should be snug but never tight — you should be able to slide two fingers underneath.

Most dogs become comfortable with the pad within a few sessions — especially because many find the gentle warmth soothing. We recommend starting sessions when your dog is naturally relaxed (after a walk, at bedtime, during rest time).

You can also offer a treat or a light distraction during the first few sessions while they adjust. Many owners report their dog actively seeks out session time after the first week.

Yes. Wipe the pad down between uses with a damp cloth. Allow it to dry fully before reapplying. One pad per household is suitable for multiple dogs.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) at these wavelengths is considered non-invasive and well-tolerated. That said, we always recommend consulting your vet before starting any new wellness routine — especially for dogs with underlying conditions, open wounds, active infections, or who are pregnant.
